Kenton Elementary Information

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Kenton Elementary. Kenton Elementary is located in the southern end of Kenton County with a rapidly growing rural and suburban population. We have approximately 675 students in grades Pre-school through fifth. Kenton Elementary is the oldest elementary school in Independence. The location we are currently at opened in 1952, with a previous location across from the Independence Court House. The community is very supportive of the school with active parent involvement. Kenton Elementary has an excellent and well trained staff of caring and nurturing teachers, assistants, and other staff members. Kenton Elementary staff and students embrace a positive, proactive environment with an emphasis on respect and learning. We teach children procedures and provide students with clear expectations for behavior and self-discipline. Students are expected to be responsible for their learning and their behavior.

Students engage in daily, rigorous lessons in English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Students also receive weekly experiences in physical education, art, music, library, and technology. There are opportunities for intermediate level students to participate in basketball, academic team, future problem solving team, gardening club, archery, student leadership technology team, news team, and energy team.
