Purpose:
To highlight the creativity, talent, and accomplishments of Kenton County students by showcasing student work at Board of Education meetings and in district spaces. This program provides schools an opportunity to feature student voices and contributions in the areas of visual art, music, writing, media, innovation, and more.
Eligibility & Participation:
All KCSD schools (elementary, middle, and high school) are invited to apply to feature students and their work during the monthly Board of Education meetings.
Each school may submit a request to present/display student work in one or more of the following categories:
Showcase Categories:
- 🎨 Visual Arts – Student drawings, paintings, ceramics, digital design, etc. for physical or digital display in the board room
- 🎵 Musical Performance – Live or recorded solo or group performances (chorus, band, orchestra, etc.)
- 🎤 Spoken Word or Original Writing – Poems, essays, speeches, or dramatic monologues performed live or via video
- 💡 Innovation & STEM Projects – Displays or demos of student-designed experiments, prototypes, or coding/robotics projects
- 🎬 Media & Communication – Student-created videos, podcasts, or news features
Showcase Format:
Selected schools will:
- May have 3–5 minutes during the board meeting agenda to present live or via pre-recorded video and/or-
- Be featured in the board room before and/or during the monthly board meeting
- May be featured in the Central Office foyer for one month
- Be recognized on the district website and social media
- Have the opportunity to have 1–2 staff/student representatives to speak briefly about the showcased work
Application Process:
School leaders or staff members can complete the “Student Showcase Spotlight Application” to request a feature month.
